Synthesis and Characterization of Pyridine End-Capped Oligoazines

Abstract

A new group of controlled chain length oligoazine analogues with pyridine end groups are synthesized and characterized. IR and ¹H NMR spectroscopies indicate that delocalization in the ground state is limited to two repeat units (4 imine bonds) but UV-vis spectroscopy shows that the delocalization length in the excited state is extended to at least four repeat units (8 imine bonds).
